Canonbury Lodge goes from strength to strength
W Bro Robert Lakic PJGD, MetGInsp reports for Arena.
Canonbury Lodge was pleased to be able to meet at the end of 2020 to conduct the Ceremony of Passing. It was an Emergency Meeting and of course conducted in accordance with the Government and UGLE guidelines laid down for social distancing.
This successful Lodge chose to hold the meeting for a number of reasons. Primarily to ensure continuity, ensuring that the Lodge held a meeting within a twelve-month period, to enjoy fraternity, and to keep up with their enviously busy workload.
In the past four years the Lodge has attracted nine initiates, nine joiners and a re-joiner. Before the suspension of Masonic activity, the Lodge had three more initiates and a joining member in the pipeline. Since that time, this has increased by a further two initiates, three joiners and another re-joiner!
There is no simple reason or magic formula behind this success, other than, even though the Lodge has been forced apart by the COVID restrictions, it is a fine example of why we are Freemasons – it is a happy Lodge that enjoys good ritual and equally good company.
