Chaucer Chapter No. 1540
Not having a Royal Arch Chapter connected to Argosy up until 2019, the appetite for our increasing membership to establish a unit grew. Working with Metropolitan Grand Lodge a small delegation from the lodge formed a project team and a prestigious Chapter at risk of surrendering its warrant was identified.
Chaucer Chapter No. 1540 was consecrated in June 1878 at the Bridge House Hotel, Southwark and records from The Freemason, July 6, 1878 provide a unique insight into that particular meeting itself.
More recently, the success of the project team in little over a year has meant that Argosy Lodge has adopted and incorporated Chaucer as it’s primary chapter. Overnight Argosy doubled Chaucher’s membership, and has a waiting list of new exhaltees from it’s ranks waiting to join. We also have a growing number of joining members from across the Royal Arch circuit who are keen to be a part of this this new and unique collaboration.
