Four Brethren – Three Lodges – Five Peaks
Earlier this September W Bro. Stuart Lutes, Charity Steward of London Lodge La Belle Sauvage No.3095, together with three fellow masons, took on the ‘Five Peaks Challenge’ to raise money for the charity Dogs For Good.
The challenge entailed climbing and descending the highest peaks of the home nations of England (Scafell Pike), Wales (Snowdon), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Northern Ireland (Slieve Donard) and the highest peak in the Republic of Ireland (Carrauntoohil). In just five days, the four brethren, all in their fifties, drove 1800 miles and climbed/descended over 10,000 metres.
The other three brethren who completed the task are W Bro. Mark O’Shaughnessy and Bro. Jeff Wall of Bodina Lodge No.9121 (Hertfordshire) and Bro. Eddie Higgins of Mariners’ lodge No.168 (Province of Guernsey and Alderney).
Dogs for Good is a life-transforming charity, creating partnerships between people living with disability, including children with autism, and specially trained assistance dogs. So far over £1,700 has been raised by online donations with La Belle Sauvage Lodge boosting this by making a generous donation of £500.
